Plot
A wandering carnival in the American Midwest struggles to survive both the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, but the rag tag group of miscreants finds themselves caught up in an epic battle between good and evil. Ben Hawkins is a fugitive from the law, but members of the carnival see in him an important spiritual figure and look to help him awaken his true self. That's not necessarily something that Ben wants, but he'll find himself compelled to follow the carnival on account of his love for a girl in the carnival and recurring visions of a mysterious preacher thousands of miles away.
