Aldnoah.Zero (2014)

In the year 1972, during the historic Apollo 17 mission, an ancient alien hypergate was unearthed on the moon's surface. This discovery became an interstellar bridge between Earth and Mars, sparking a migration of humanity to the red planet. As these settlers laid claim to Mars, they stumbled upon a mystical artifact known as "Aldnoah." This enchanted technology elevated their status, transforming them into a society of superiority, and thus, the powerful Vers Empire was born. The Vers Empire, armed with the secrets of Mars and the might of Aldnoah, declared themselves the rulers of the planet. However, their thirst for power didn't stop at the Martian plains. In 1999, the Empire declared war on Earth, leading to a cataclysmic battle on the Moon. The conflict reached its catastrophic climax when the hypergate exploded, shattering the moon and veiling the Earth with a belt of debris. Stranded and cut off from Mars, the Vers Empire adapted, establishing colossal orbital stations amidst the celestial wreckage. A fragile ceasefire reigned for 15 years until 2014, when an assassination attempt on the Vers princess, Asseylum, during a peace mission, plunged the planets back into war. Now, the Empire, fueled by vengeance and ambition, launched a devastating attack on Earth, intent on its absolute conquest. As the Martian soldiers descended from the sky, riding their steel giants, they were resolved to exterminate humanity, sparking a war that would decide the fate of two worlds.
