Plot
It's the midst of the Russian Revolution, but the small town of Muryevo has hardly felt its impact. Dr. Vladimir Bomgard and his team of doctors are more concerned with helping the townsfolk with their health issues than with political matters elsewhere, and they have to struggle with the fact that the villagers are often suspicious of their medical science. A romantic relationship between Bomgard and one of his colleagues complicates matters, as does Blomgard's generous use of morphine. But as the revolution turns into a war, even this remote village begins to feel the impact of such political chaos.
