In the enchanting heart of New Zealand's coastline, the life of George Turner - portrayed with heartwarming authenticity by Erik Thomson - takes an unexpected detour. George, a once-popular 800-word columnist for a leading Sydney newspaper, finds himself grappling with life’s raw edges after the sudden loss of his wife. In an impulsive bid to escape his grief and the bustling Sydney life, he purchases a home in a remote seaside town of New Zealand, sight unseen. The news of this abrupt life-change hits his two teenage children like a wave, still reeling from the loss of their mother and now faced with an uncertain new world. George's dream of a fresh start, however, crumbles against the rocky shores of reality. The town, though picturesque, is teeming with colorful, inquisitive locals who unwittingly hinder his plans for a quiet life.
