Plot

In the heart of Zululand, South Africa, 1879, the British empire finds itself entangled in a fierce conflict with the Zulu nation. The film "Zulu" (1964) spins a tale of historical courage, taking its audience to the aftermath of the catastrophic Isandlwana battle where the British column has been obliterated. Lieutenants Chard and Bromhead, men of differing tactical backgrounds, find themselves and their contingent of 150 men stranded in Natal. The chilling news of the main British Army column's destruction leaves them isolated, with the ominous shadow of four thousand Zulu warriors poised to descend upon them in a matter of hours. Their outpost, Rorke's Drift, transforms into a stage of impending doom and an arena for the most courageous battles in history. The Lieutenants, despite their initial conflict over preparations, must unite their men, including the sickly third in the infirmary, to confront the imminent Zulu onslaught. The Welsh company, devoid of any immediate help, prepares to face this overwhelming force under the burning African sun. "Zulu" is a stirring testament to human resilience and bravery, based on a true story. It chronicles the immense challenge that awaited these 150 British troops, and their audacious stand against a force vastly outnumbering them. The movie paints a vivid and unforgettable picture of survival, grit, and an undying fighting spirit.
