In the heart of New York City, Allie Smith leads a life as unassuming as the books she safeguards as an assistant librarian under the watchful eye of her long-time friend, Miss Margaret Gordon. Shielded from the world, Allie's existence takes a sharp turn with the demise of her mother, leaving an emptiness that craves more than just human interaction.
