Plot

In the heart of the 1930s, Virginia Travis, a talented yet cash-strapped architect, finds herself at a crossroads. Struggling to shatter the glass ceiling of her industry, she aligns herself with B.J. Nolan, a formerly affluent dreamer with a penchant for far-fetched schemes. Nolan's latest vision, Nolan Heights, a housing project bubbling with potential, is nothing more than an elusive fantasy due to his dire financial straits. Unbeknownst to Virginia, Nolan is in more than a spot of bother, with debt collectors practically pitching tents outside his office to claim what's theirs. As Virginia navigates this complex landscape, she discovers that Nolan's son, the prudent Kenneth Nolan, sits on a millionaire's nest egg, a fortune bestowed by his late mother to protect the family from B.J.'s eccentric spending habits. Seeing an opportunity, Virginia concocts a slightly devious plan to get the unsuspecting Kenneth to fund Nolan Heights. Enter an unexpected twist in the form of Kenneth's return from Europe and his entourage: the captivating Nina Tennyson and her French 'uncle,' Henri Saffron. Little does Kenneth know, his new companions are nothing more than gold-diggers, their eyes set on his fortune. In the midst of this chaos, Virginia finds herself falling for Kenneth, deepening her desire for his investment in Nolan Heights to be genuine, rather than the result of her cunning manipulation. The plot thickens as Virginia and B.J. resort to a high-stakes game of deception, enlisting the help of Virginia's penniless friends to pose as household servants. As the house teems with an eclectic mix of characters, each with their own hidden motives, an intricate web of romance, intrigue, and financial wheeling and dealing unfolds, turning B.J.'s mansion into an arena of indulgent chaos and potential heartbreak. "Woman Chases Man" is a captivating whirlwind of a plot, teeming with love, deception, and high-stakes gambles, where everyone has their eyes set on the prize, but the rules of the game are anything but straightforward.
