Wild Stallion (1952)

In the heart of the untamed west, young orphan Dan Light (Orley Lindgren) finds solace under the rugged mentorship of Johnny Wintergreen (Edgar Buchanan), a seasoned hunter of wild horses for the U.S. cavalry. His parents claimed by a brutal Indian raid, Dan clings to the slim hope that his beloved pet colt, Top Kick, escaped the massacre. Nurtured by the kindness of Major Callan (Hayden Rorke) at an army post, Dan's heart slowly heals, even as it begins to flutter for Callan’s captivating daughter, Caroline (Martha Hyer). Years pass and Dan (Ben Johnson), now a man, follows in Wintergreen's footsteps, becoming a wild horse hunter. Yet, his past refuses to be forgotten. The memory of Top Kick, his lost colt, haunts him, igniting an obsession to find the horse he believes survived. His relentless pursuit eventually leads him to a majestic white stallion leading a wild herd - the grown-up Top Kick. But their reunion is fleeting. Top Kick slips away again, this time into the hands of the Army. Witnessing the mistreatment of his childhood companion, Dan's heart swells with defiance, prompting him to reclaim his horse and gallop away. But the wilderness is unforgiving. He soon finds himself in the midst of an Indian attack on an Army troop, the echoes of his past resounding. With Top Kick as the sole remaining horse, Dan must brave the perilous landscape and reach the post for help, a task that will test his courage, loyalty, and the unbreakable bond he shares with his wild stallion.
