Plot

In the atmospheric 1970 film, "Whirlpool," an alluring blonde fashion model named Tulia is mysteriously drawn to a secluded country estate by Sara, a sinister older woman with secrets hidden in her eyes. Sara's enigmatic companion, Theo, an orphan given refuge under her roof, is as much a part of the mystery. This photography-obsessed young man, who claims to be Sara's nephew, emanates an unsettling aura that matches the eeriness of the estate. Tulia, seemingly unperturbed by the estate's peculiar atmosphere, ignores the disturbing disappearance of her predecessor, Rhonda. She also overlooks the strange events of her first night – a debauched game of strip poker and a thwarted tryst with Theo, secretly observed by Sara. Her indifference extends to the following day when Theo orchestrates a near-assault in town, not for protection, but for the perverse thrill of capturing the moment in a photograph. Tulia soon finds herself entrapped in a twisted triad of intimacy and photography with Sara and Theo. Simultaneously, she is intriguingly warned to avoid Theo's enigmatic darkroom - a chilling nod to the age-old tale of Bluebeard. As the narrative spirals, Tulia is increasingly ensnared in a malevolent web that weaves together elements of sexuality, exploitation, and an impending doom. "Whirlpool" is a chilling exploration of a young woman's descent into a sinister labyrinth where the boundaries of trust and decency blur, and survival becomes a grim game. This eerily captivating film leaves viewers teetering on the edge of their seats, breathlessly waiting to discover Tulia's fate.
