Plot

Under the relentless pressure of his work as a professional photographer with a bustling Manhattan advertising agency, George finds himself on the edge of unravelling. Seeking solace and reprieve from the city's incessant demands, George, his wife Kim, and their young son Miles embark on a journey to the serene wilderness of upstate New York, hoping to bask in the tranquil beauty of winter. However, their drive is anything but calm. A sudden and shocking accident on the icy road disrupts their journey as George inadvertently hits and grievously injures a deer. This event becomes the catalyst for an unsettling confrontation with a livid local named Otis, who claims that his group of hunters had been pursuing the deer for some time. The altercation leaves George deeply disturbed and rattled. Arriving at their quaint cabin, George and Kim find themselves uncomfortably close to Otis' property, and a sense of ominous dread begins to permeate their abode. It's as though a menacing presence has claimed their cottage, casting a shadow over their getaway. Their son Miles, having heard the local legend of the Wendigo from a shopkeeper on their way, begins to connect the dots. The Wendigo, a mythical beast from Indian folklore, is said to be a shapeshifting entity, half-man, half-deer. As their misfortunes begin to mount, Miles is drawn into wondering if the Wendigo might be more than just a legend, perhaps even the source of his family's escalating fear and disquiet.
