Plot

In the relentless world of cinema, long-time film producer To, played by Chapman To Man-chak, is a man whose dreams of a blockbuster hit have yet to materialize. Crippled by financial woes and burdened by alimony to his bitter ex-wife (Kristal Tin), To's life is a labyrinth of complications. However, the unwavering faith of his daughter, who wishes to see him on television, fuels his perseverance. In a twist of fate, To's buddy Lui Wing-shing (Simon Loui Yu-yeung) introduces him to Tyrannosaurus (Ronald Cheng), a potential investor from Mainland China. Tyrannosaurus, however, is not just any investor. He's the formidable head of a Guangxi triad gang with an eccentric palate for food, sex, and - as it turns out - cinema. Despite his unconventional tastes, To is resolute in his mission to secure funding, even if it means pandering to Tyrannosaurus's whims. The Triad leader's peculiar demands include casting his childhood idol, the sexagenarian actress Yum Yum Shaw (Susan Shaw), in a remake of a classic erotic film, bizarrely titled 'Confessions of Two Concubines'. With the funding secured, what follows is a chaotic whirlwind of casting, featuring pseudo-model Tsui Ka-yan (Dada Chan), known for her unique oral talents, as Shaw's body double, and a phobia-stricken Hiro Hayama (Hiro Hayama) as the lead actor. However, the film's journey to completion is far from smooth. Director Blackie Tak's (Matt Chow) impulsive script changes lead to skyrocketing budget overruns, and Tyrannosaurus insists on his girlfriend – a far cry from your average woman – having a role in the film, pushing the production into a maelstrom of madness. With his career and his daughter's dreams on the line, To takes a desperate gamble in an attempt to salvage the film, planning to expose the outrageous and vulgar shenanigans that have marred the making of 'Confessions of Two Concubines'. 'Vulgaria' takes viewers on a rollicking ride through the tumultuous world of filmmaking, weaving together humor, desperation, and the audacity of dreams in this captivating comedy.
