In the heart of the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago, Hannes, a man weathered by the trials of life, finds himself standing on the precipice of retirement. After 37 tireless years as a school caretaker and an early life as a fisherman, Hannes is an island onto himself, mirroring the volcanic terrain of his homeland. His past is marked by the haunting memory of the 1973 Eldfell volcanic eruption that uprooted his family and forced them into a new life on the mainland.
