In the vast wilderness of Montana, Jack Elliot, a seasoned smokejumper turned lumberjack, finds solace on the precipitous slopes where he and his crew work tirelessly to fell beetle-plagued pines. Jack's refuge in the quiet woodland is a stark contrast to his adrenaline-fueled past, a soothing balm for his spirit that's been scarred by a devastating fire that claimed his unit and propelled him into a life of solitude and estrangement from his family. A sudden call from his ex-wife upends his tranquility, plunging him into a task he's unprepared for - picking up their teenage daughter, Hanna, from a Wyoming camp. Having had no contact with his family for over half a decade, Jack reluctantly agrees. His arrival at SkyCamp, astride a weathered '98 Wide Glide with sleeping bags strapped behind him, is a far cry from the sleek black G-Wagon Hanna had expected to see. Undeterred by her initial reluctance, Jack convinces Hanna to embark on a journey across the untamed expanses of Montana. Over the course of their four-day odyssey on the motorcycle, they grapple with their estrangement, their relationship as volatile as the rugged terrain they traverse beneath a canopy of glittering stars. Jack witnesses his daughter’s transformation into a young woman while Hanna sees her once-heroic father in a new light. Their journey is marked by confrontations that gradually shift into a shared battle against their past.
