Plot

"Tube Tales" (1999) is an intricate film mosaic, composed of nine vignettes inspired by true stories from London's sprawling underground transportation system, submitted by readers of "Time Out" magazine. In "Mr. Cool" (Jenkins), a young woman navigates the maze of romance in the city, torn between a subway-riding colleague and a wealthy executive. In the electrifying "Horny" (Hopkins), a young woman discovers a bizarre, yet invigorating, link between her sexuality and the subterranean commute. "Grasshopper" (Huda) weaves a tense tale of youth, law enforcement, and drug dealers, all intersecting in the underground labyrinth. In "My Father the Liar" (Hoskins), a father-son train ride takes an unforeseen turn that challenges their relationship. "Bone" (McGregor) follows a musician on a metaphorical journey through the subway cars in search of his elusive muse. In "Mouth" (Iannucci), a beautiful woman battles sickness amidst the cacophony of a crowded train compartment. "A Bird in the Hand" (Law) offers a poignant tale of an elderly man who finds unexpected liberation in assisting a trapped bird. "Rosebud" (Dellal) pulls at heartstrings as a frantic mother searches for her lost daughter, who, unbeknownst to her, is enjoying an adventure. Finally, "Steal Away" (McDougall) unfolds a gripping narrative of two thieves who rethink their life choices during a transformative subway ride. "Tube Tales" delves into the heart of London's veins, portraying an array of human experiences, all connected by the city's pulsating underground network.
