True Fiction (2018)

Kyung-suk, poised on the precipice of political greatness, is the favored contender for the city's mayoral seat, thanks to the influential machinations of his congressman father-in-law. However, this seemingly perfect political picture hides a murky secret - a slush fund he needs to discreetly tuck away. His destination is a secluded cottage, a property under his wife's name, an ideal hideaway for both the money and his clandestine affair with Ji-young, his mistress. Upon their arrival, they encounter Soon-tae, a young man asserting his role as the cottage's groundskeeper. Kyung-suk's nerves fray at the edges, fearing the exposure of his illicit affair and financial subterfuge. All he seeks is to stash the money and make a swift exit, but fate has other plans. A series of unfortunate incidents ensnare him - he's wrongfully accused of drunk driving, robbery, and is involved in a hit-and-run fiasco. As desperation mounts, Kyung-suk attempts to escape, but the web of deceit tightens around him, threatening to turn his political dreams into a nightmarish reality.
