Plot
In the inaugural feature film from Craig Johnson, True Adolescents, we meet Sam (Mark Duplass), a faded rock star blissfully unaware of his downward spiral. Stripped of his job, home, and the remnants of his once-lustrous career, he finds refuge in the welcoming arms of his sympathetic aunt (Melissa Leo). Sam's life takes a fresh turn when he is roped into being the unlikely guardian on a camping trip with his aunt's teenage son and his friend. The trio, bound by a comical mirror of immaturity, embark on a journey of juvenile escapades into the deeply stirring wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.
However, their adventure takes a shocking twist when they stumble upon a surprising discovery that quickly turns perilous. The once carefree expedition becomes a crucible for their maturity, forcing them to traverse the terrain from boyhood to manhood in a race against time. Duplass's audacious and occasionally reckless performance shines, particularly when his character is forced to confront his own unflattering reflection. True Adolescents is a captivating exploration of growth, realization, and the unexpected trials that life throws our way.
