Plot

In the shadowy depths of an Arizona nighttime, a man masquerading as a physician orchestrates a daring heist aboard a racing train, absconding with a staggering $500,000 payroll. This impostor, Paul Bruckner, disembarks with his faux "patient" and the "patient's wife," the latter being Bruckner's very real spouse, Linda. In response to the audacious crime, the insurance company dispatches their ace investigator, Charlie Norman, to collaborate with the railroad's sleuth, Joe Armstrong. Norman and Armstrong share a bond of friendship, but their camaraderie is strained as Norman, along with his wife Ruth, must shelve their impending Mexican getaway. However, Norman's worry extends beyond the ruined vacation. He is, in fact, the mastermind behind the audacious robbery, having succumbed to a passionate affair with Linda while probing a previous claim filed by Bruckner. Initially, Armstrong struggles to uncover any clues concerning the impeccably scheduled heist, stumbling only upon the breadcrumbs Norman permits him to discover. The plot unravels in a web of deceit, love, and betrayal, as the clock ticks and the truth inches perilously closer to the surface.
