Plot
In the heart of England, nestled amidst rolling countryside, lies the industrious village of Little Hayhoe. Here, the diligent villagers prides themselves on their near-perfect employment rate, anticipating an honourable visit from the Prime Minister. Yet, in this picture-perfect community, one man stands out - Dan Dance (Eddie Byrne), an old maverick who prefers the company of ale and philosophical musings over work.
As the villagers strive for their flawless record, they hatch a scheme to relocate the non-conforming Dan into the long-deserted almshouse. Bound by ancient rules crafted four centuries ago, he's forced into an unfamiliar world of discipline and regulation. Yet, the tides of destiny take an unexpected turn when a fresh-faced Vicar stumbles upon an archaic law, revealing a startling truth.
Under the circumstances shaped by the Village Council's cunning, the seemingly hapless Dan Dance becomes the unlikely heir to a staggering 6,000 pounds a year, ironically draining the resources of the very village that sought to control him. An engaging tale of small-town politics, unexpected fortunes, and the timeless struggle between conformity and individuality, "Time, Gentlemen, Please!" is a delightful exploration of the idiosyncrasies of quaint British village life.
