Plot

Branded as a fugitive and bearing the indelible scar of an almost-lynching, Jim Guthrie (Dana Andrews) is a man wronged, haunted by a murder accusation that is not his own. After three tumultuous years spent in the shadows, he emerges, drawn back to the town that cast him out, fueled by a relentless determination to reclaim his tarnished name. His sudden return ignites a spark of fear among the very townsfolk who had falsely convicted him. Their guilt-ridden minds are haunted by the specter of revenge, and they scramble to bring Guthrie down before he can rise against them. As the pendulum of tension swings, the Sheriff bestows upon Guthrie a tight deadline of just three hours to expose the true murderer. In the midst of this unfolding drama, the remnants of his past life flicker back into view. Laurie Mastin (Donna Reed), the woman he left behind, now bearing a child and bound to another man, stands as a poignant reminder of what could have been. Yet, it's Chris Palmer (Diane Foster), a resilient maiden, who accompanies Guthrie on his treacherous journey to justice, standing by his side as the identity of the authentic killer unravels with a harsh reckoning. In "Three Hours to Kill", the ticking clock becomes a relentless adversary, the past and present collide, and the lines of guilt and innocence blur, all under the looming shadow of a noose that once threatened to claim an innocent life.
