Plot

In the serene backdrop of upstate New York's aristocracy, Tony and Jim Dunlap reside in marital bliss, cherishing their two-year-old son, Jeremy. Tony's unwavering loyalty to Jim has earned her the reputation of an ideal wife in their social circle. However, their perfect world teeters on the brink of unraveling with the impending return of Fran Harper, Jim's ex-fiancée and notorious heartbreaker. Fran, recently divorced and yet to announce it to the world, is the sister of their friends Jud and Bee McCrae, both of whom share a palpable disdain for her. Six years ago, she had left Jim at the altar, a scandalous act that, once it resurfaces with her return, threatens to ensnare Jim and Tony in a media circus. Fran's return isn't devoid of motives; she brings along Mort Holmes, a hapless man she met at a speakeasy, with a sinister plan to incite jealousy in Jim. Despite her machinations, Fran doesn't love Jim; her intentions revolve around her selfish desires. Tony, far from naive, sees through Fran's schemes, her instincts honed by her own mother's similar nature. As Fran weaves her web of deception, Tony decides to step in, aiming to neutralize Fran's efforts and expose her true character to Jim, who remains oblivious to Fran's manipulative charm. Will Tony's efforts be enough to safeguard their tranquil home from the destructive whirlwind of past loves and emerging scandals? This captivating tale of loyalty, love, and deception, "This Man Is Mine" (1934), explores the tumultuous dynamics of relationships and the lengths one would go to protect their loved ones.
