Plot
The lives and careers of the United Kingdom's government are skewered relentlessly in this workplace sitcom. The Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship is in charge primarily of overseeing other departments, making them arguably a redundancy that doesn't need to exist. It's an irony lost on Hugh Abbot. As the hopeless minister in charge of the department, Abbot is both barely competent and always being watched by the authoritarian Malcolm Tucker. It's a series of events in which Hugh is forced to consider resignation on a regularly basis, and he finds little sympathy in the ruthlessly self-interested halls of government.
