Thirteen Women (1932)

In the heart of the bustling metropolis, a tight-knit circle of twelve Anglo-Saxon women, bound together by the shared memories of their days at St. Alban's Seminary, find their lives intertwined by a chilling prophecy. Their shared history, however, is marred by the exclusion of Ursula Georgi, a half-caste Hindu woman, whose desire to integrate into their circle was thwarted by her ethnicity. Now, Ursula is back with a vengeance, wielding her position as the secretary for the famed astrologist Swami Yogadachi with malevolent intent. Leveraging on their curiosity and camaraderie, Ursula manipulates them into seeking their horoscopes from the Swami. Yet, with a cunning twist of deceit, Ursula ensures the prognostications they receive are far from auspicious. Each woman is served a chilling prediction of impending doom, either their own demise or that of a cherished loved one. The terrifying prophecies begin to manifest themselves, driven by the power of suggestion and Ursula's potent mystical abilities. As the sinister predictions unfold, Laura Stanhope, a single mother and Beverly Hills society matron known for her resilience, rallies the remaining group in a defiant stand against the doom-laden horoscopes. Little do they know, Laura is battling her own fear, haunted by a prophecy predicting her young son Bobby's death within three days. When the grim forecast of a death outside the group eerily comes to pass, Ursula intensifies her efforts to ensure Bobby's untimely end, throwing Laura into a desperate race against time. When Laura suspects a sinister hand behind the Swami's predictions, she turns to the police. Sergeant Barry Clive, who has already investigated a death among the group, finds himself ensnared in their web of fear and paranoia. He must unravel the truth and halt the deadly prophecy before Bobby's predicted demise. As the clock ticks down, the former schoolmates become embroiled in a suspenseful battle against a powerful enemy fueled by revenge and the hypnotic power of suggestion.
