Plot

In the heart of New York City, Theresa McDermott, a once hopeful singer/songwriter and tenacious single mother, finds herself at a crossroads. The city that never sleeps has become a ruthless labyrinth of struggle for her, making it impossible to provide for her three daughters. With her dreams fading into the rear-view mirror, she reluctantly decides to uproot her life, packing up the remnants of their existence and retracing her steps back to the small town she once eagerly abandoned. Returning to her childhood home, Theresa confronts the parents she left behind a decade ago, their lives now as alien to her as her own has become. She is a stranger in her own past, desperately seeking a job to keep her family afloat, while her parents yearn for the tranquility their lives once held before the arrival of their daughter and granddaughters. In the midst of this familial turmoil, a long-buried family tragedy resurfaces, demanding the closure it was denied years ago. As the echoes of past mistakes and dreams, once vibrant but now unattainable, begin to expose themselves, the fractured McDermott family embarks on a tumultuous journey towards healing. Amidst the chaos, Theresa grapples with her identity, caught between the woman she once was and the responsible mother she strives to be. "Theresa is a Mother" is a poignant tale of resilience, redemption, and the relentless pursuit of wholeness within a family caught in the crossfire of their own complexities.
