Plot

In the heartland of Long Island, Olivia Pershing, a work-obsessed stager who specializes in desentimentalizing spaces, is about to tie the knot with her equally industrious partner, Josh Johnson, a high-end real estate agent. Their preference for a simple civil ceremony is swept aside by Olivia's daughter, Grace, who craves a sprinkle of romance for her parents and arranges a quaint weekend wedding getaway at the picturesque Willow Lake Inn in Vermont. The Inn brims with nostalgia, its owner Mick Turner, a former pop star and Olivia's first love from college, still passionately indulging in music for his own pleasure. Their unexpected reunion, thirty years after a misunderstanding led to their separation, stirs up a cocktail of emotions, especially as Mick was part of Olivia's past life that Grace was completely oblivious to. Unbeknownst to Olivia, Mick, now a widower, is contemplating selling the Inn, a decision he struggles to share with his daughter Julie, for whom the Inn is her only known home. As the wedding preparations unfold, Grace, Julie, and Duke, the Inn's chef who was also the drummer in Mick's band, sense an undeniable spark between Olivia and Mick. They find themselves hoping that this old flame might just ignite again, offering Olivia and Mick a second chance at love, even if it is three decades overdue. The story further unravels as Olivia's judgmental mother, Nora, who never approved of Mick's devotion to music over Olivia, enters the scene, and Grace begins to see her soon-to-be stepfather, Josh, more as an associate than a companion for her mother. As the wedding weekend progresses, it becomes a journey of rediscovering love, embracing change, and making choices that could alter their lives forever.
