Plot

In the scenic backdrop of upstate New York, two college students from neighboring institutions find themselves entangled in a poignant romantic saga that demands a level of maturity beyond their youthful understanding. Pookie Adams, an eccentric and solitary misfit devoid of family and a sense of belonging, labels everyone who refuses to engage in her unique world as "weirdos". She ardently attaches herself to Jerry, a reserved and scholarly individual who stands at the crossroads of dwelling in Pookie's secluded universe or embracing the society she dismisses. Unknowingly, it is through their bittersweet liaison that Pookie equips Jerry for the realm of "weirdos" she herself neither fits into nor aspires to join. Their awkward relationship serves as a passage for Jerry into this world, painting a heartfelt image of love, individuality, and the trials of growing up.
