Plot

Struggling to keep his family afloat amidst unemployment, Howard Tyler's life is in a desperate state. His wife, Judy, is pregnant and the weight of their growing family rests heavily on his shoulders. A ray of hope appears in the guise of the charismatic Jerry Slocum, who extends an intriguing job offer to Howard. Caught in the allure of a better life, Howard soon discovers the darker reality — his role as a chauffeur in Jerry's small-time thievery. Maintaining a façade of working the night shift at a factory, Howard helps improve his family's life. In another part of town, ambitious tabloid journalist Gil Stanton is handed a task to sensationalize the ongoing thefts to boost newspaper sales. The paths of Howard and Stanton ominously converge when Jerry escalates his criminal game. A millionaire's son becomes Jerry's pawn in a horrifying kidnapping that ends in murder. Forced to assist Jerry in this chilling act, Howard is drawn deeper into the quagmire of crime. The ransom demand to the wealthy family sends a shockwave through the town, and when the boy is found, the public outcry is deafening. Stanton seizes the opportunity to fan the flames of public anger, painting the culprits as monstrous villains. When Howard and Jerry are finally apprehended, they find themselves at the mercy of an enraged mob demanding justice. With the crowd baying for blood outside the police station, the question remains — how will the law ensure the safety of these prisoners amidst the sound of fury?
