The Revenge of the Woman in Black (1997)

In the wake of the events that unfurled in "L'Assassin jouait du trombone", we find Augustin Marleau (Germain Houde), now basking in the sunshine of success as a celebrated comedian. He's the face of countless advertisements, blissfully ignorant that his newfound fame is orchestrated by his old nemesis, Edward Elkin (Marc Labrèche), who's orchestrating a bitter revenge. As the businessmen behind Marleau's commercial contracts begin to mysteriously vanish one after another, Marleau finds himself thrust into the spotlight - but this time, as the prime suspect in the eyes of the gruff inspector DeGrassely (Raymond Bouchard). DeGrassely, bearing his own grudge, is all too eager to pin the blame on Marleau. Haunted by a guilty conscience, complicated by the specters of his ex-wife and daughter, and hounded by a pair of opportunistic thieves, Marleau is ensnared in a web of intrigue and suspicion. He must unravel the mystery of the disappearances and clear his name, all while avoiding the intricate trap laid for him by his unseen puppeteer. His race against time is a desperate quest for truth before the curtain drops on his life and career.
