Plot

In "The Paul Lynde Halloween Special," the calendar-hopping comedic genius, Paul Lynde, finds himself caught in a whimsical whirlpool of misadventures as he attempts to observe Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day, only to be informed by his no-nonsense housekeeper, Margaret, that it's actually Halloween. This is the season when precocious young mischief-makers know more about carving both pumpkins and Lynde's cherished sports car than they do about classic starlets, a fact that leaves Lynde unimpressed. Seeking refuge from the tricking tykes, Lynde is whisked away to Margaret's sister's abode, a respite that proves to be anything but ordinary. The sister is revealed to be Witchipoo, and Margaret, to Lynde's surprise, is the Wicked Witch of the West. The duo of misunderstood witches, weary of their wicked reputation, seek Lynde's help to remodel their image, offering him three wishes in return for his services as their human ambassador. Lynde's whimsical journey spirals into the realm of the extraordinary as he takes on the roles of a rhinestone trucker and a romantic sheik, using his wishes to dive into these outrageous alter-egos. Amidst Lynde's fantastical escapades, the rock band KISS sets the stage ablaze with three electrifying performances, while Florence Henderson brings a touch of the unexpected, crooning a disco rendition of "That Old Black Magic." This Halloween special is a delightful blend of comedy, fantasy, and music, promising viewers a uniquely enchanting experience.
