Plot

Rosa, a weary prostitute burdened by the legacy of her mother's profession, lives a mundane existence within the confines of her sparse apartment. Sharing her hallway with Carlos, a transgender prostitute, and Antonia, her mother and fanatical admirer of Sara Montiel, Rosa's world is steeped in melancholy. Their lives take an unexpected turn when Masha, a Russian prostitute from the same corridor, succumbs to an overdose, leaving behind her young daughter, Lyuba. Lyuba, a desperate orphan, finds an unlikely refuge in Rosa's home, drawn by the open door left ajar due to Antonia's paralyzing fears of being trapped alone during a medical emergency. Rosa, initially taken aback by the child's sudden appearance, contemplates contacting the police. However, Antonia and Carlos persuade her to shelter Lyuba temporarily, while they search for her elder brother, Yuri, hoping he would assume responsibility for the child and alleviate their predicament. As Rosa grapples with the fear of being discovered harboring Lyuba, and the prospect of a scornful janitor, Juana, tipping off the authorities about the prostitutes in the building, she finds herself developing an unexpected bond with the young girl. Seeing in Lyuba the daughter she could never have, Rosa's hardened heart begins to thaw, triggering a stirring journey of self-discovery, compassion and unanticipated affection.
