In the heart of the enigmatic Valley of the Kings, a driven but destitute young archaeologist, Howard Carter, finds his obsession tethered to the elusive tomb of the boy-king, Tutankhamun. Hired by the deep-pocketed British aristocrat, Lord Carnarvon, Carter embarks on a quest of historical significance. Yet, a tumultuous world stands in their path - the onset of World War I, an insurrection against British rule by Arab rebels, the shrinking patience and dwindling fortune of Lord Carnarvon, and the relentless scrutiny of the press. New Egyptian laws that nullify their rights to a finder's fee further complicate their pursuit. The plot thickens with the introduction of Carnarvon's fiery and captivating daughter, Evelyn, who ensnares the innocent Carter in a web of seduction and camaraderie. Despite the mounting obstacles, Carter's unwavering dedication leads him to his ultimate dream, only to leave him on the precipice of losing everything he holds dear.
