Plot

When James Alden, a venerable automaker, is compelled to retire by his physicians, he does so out of consideration for his wife Laura and his daughter 'Babs.' However, the idle passage of six months leaves him disenchanted and restless. A chance encounter with an insurance salesman convinces him that retirement is a perilous venture. Thus, driven by a desire for invigoration, James surreptitiously responds to a newspaper advertisement about a garage for sale. Assuming the alias of Charlie Miller, he purchases half of the garage, his partner in this new endeavor being the unsuspecting Bill Merrick, the purchaser of the other half. They soon discover that the former owner, Peterson, had underhandedly concealed his plans to open a new gas station in a prime location down the road, poised to siphon off most of their potential business. Refusing to be outwitted, Charlie and Bill retaliate by transforming a dilapidated building across the street from Peterson's new station into a formidable rival establishment. As James continues to juggle his double life under a fabricated pretense, he is left wondering how long he can maintain this intricate charade. The film "The Millionaire" is a tale of reinvention, cunning enterprise, and the audacious spirit that refuses to be stifled by circumstances.
