In an era where the world was largely uncharted and maps were a luxury beyond the reach of the common man, a visionary named Gosanja Kim Jeong-ho, portrayed by Cha Seoung-won, embarks on an audacious journey. His aim? To traverse the length and breadth of the Korean peninsula on foot in order to create the Daedongyeojido - the Grand Map of the East Land. Driven by the noble intent to make geographical knowledge accessible to the masses, he willingly sacrifices his personal life, barely acknowledging the passage of time as his only daughter Kim Sunsil blossoms into a young woman of sixteen years in his absence. Ridiculed and labelled insane by the skeptical, Kim Jeong-ho remains steadfast in his mission. His perseverance sees him painstakingly crafting the template for woodblock printing of the map, undeterred by the daunting enormity of his task. However, his groundbreaking work catches the attention of the King Father, Daewongun, portrayed by Yu Jun-sang, who eyes the map as a pawn in his power play against the House of Kim of Andong.
