Plot

Once a celebrated king adored by two million subjects, Alfred VII now lives secluded in Paris, his kingdom reduced to Count Humbert and Duchess Anna, and his vast fortune. Young and handsome, yet ensnared in the chains of relentless ennui, his days are spent in the twilight of his apartment, indulging in an endless cycle of drink and despair. The world outside hasn't glimpsed him for years, until a mundane trip to an ordinary cabaret spins his life around. A chorus girl, full of life and charm, catches his eye and is invited to his dwelling, a scene that Alfred has orchestrated countless times before. But fate has a different script this time; he passes out and she leaves in a huff, her pride wounded. This sparks an ingenious idea in Humbert and Anna's minds, a scheme that could rouse Alfred from his melancholic stupor - they convince him that the girl didn't show up, and suggest she views him as insignificant. Driven by a newfound purpose, Alfred embarks on a relentless pursuit, his apathy replaced by determination. But as he chases this ordinary girl, a question looms - what if she falls for him, the fallen King? The once powerful monarch must face a challenge that his royal status never prepared him for - the unpredictable game of love.
