In a mid-century Texas oil town, beneath a facade of vengeance, lie the dark secrets of sadism and masochism. Lou Ford, a seemingly unassuming sheriff's deputy, finds himself embroiled in a twisted tale of passion and murder. When his superior tasks him with evicting a local prostitute from her rural dwelling, a slap ignites an unlikely, volatile affair. Through daily trysts, Lou becomes convinced of their love. The woman, enthralled by him, unwittingly becomes his pawn in a plot she believes aims to blackmail the affluent construction magnate of the town, Chester Conway.
