In the heart of a secret rendezvous, a woman and her lover find their clandestine affair interrupted when a horse, belonging to the soon-to-be-married Fadinard, devours her distinctive Italian straw hat. The loss of her hat sends her into a state of histrionic distress, with her lover supporting her through episodes of fainting. The situation takes a chaotic turn as the woman's husband demands a replacement of the exact same rare hat from Fadinard, threatening a destructive rampage if the demand is not met.
As the wedding bells chime for Fadinard, his mission to find a matching Italian straw hat begins, adding an unexpected twist to his marriage journey. His quest pulls him away from the wedding, much to the bewilderment of his bride and her father, who unwittingly becomes a part of the hat hunt. The lover, as a forewarning, shatters a statuette, indicating the impending doom if the hat is not found.
In a delightful twist, amongst the array of wedding gifts, a hat mysteriously arrives from Florence. Will it be the exact replica required to quell the storm?
