As New Year's Eve revelry turns sour, Mane (Pinal) leaves her boyfriend behind in Mexico City, seeking refuge in the serene country house of her parents in Cuernavaca. An unexpected vehicular hiccup leaves her stranded on the lonesome highway, where she encounters the rustic charm of Cruci (Infante), a mechanic who comes to her aid. A shared ride on his motorcycle leads them back to Mane's house, where the spirit of New Year's Eve, filled with drinks and merriment, takes over.
Their celebration morphs into a hazy morning, where they awake to the sight of Mane's startled parents. A seemingly innocent night of celebration is misconstrued as they find Mane and Cruci in an unintended intimate situation. With little understanding of the circumstances, Mane and Cruci find themselves thrust into a shotgun marriage, a twist of fate neither of them had in their New Year’s resolutions.
