The Gallows (2015)

In the small town of Nebraska, an innocuous high school conceals a chilling history. Many years ago, Charlie Grimille, an unassuming student, met an untimely demise during a school play titled "The Gallows". A simple prop mishap - a loose rope around his neck, a frail wooden board beneath him - culminated in a horrifying spectacle of tragedy. The board gave way, and Charlie’s life was snuffed out in an instant, leaving a spectral scar on the school's narrative. Two decades later, the school decides to confront its haunted past by reenacting the ill-fated play. The intention is to commemorate Charlie, transforming the memory of his tragic demise into an act of honour. The lead actor, however, crippled by the weight of stage fright, devises a plan to avoid the spotlight. Together with three other students, they infiltrate the school under the cover of darkness, intent on sabotaging the set and thereby cancelling the play. Unbeknownst to them, the school has a different script in mind. As they tread the very boards that witnessed Charlie's last breath, they awaken something sinister. The ghost of Charlie Grimille, it seems, has been waiting in the wings, and he has a gruesome encore planned for the unsuspecting students. The stage is set for a night of terror that will ensure the legacy of "The Gallows" is never forgotten. This chilling tale serves as a stark reminder that some acts are better left unperformed.
