Plot

In the heart of Thuringia, Germany, in the early 20th century, nestled amidst foreboding forests and melancholy lakes, sits a secluded college - Laughing Water, or as it's more mysteriously known, Mine Ha-Ha. This enigmatic institution, derived from Frank Wedekind's compelling work, "Mine-Haha or Physical Education of Young Girls," is home to a cohort of young girls, including the curious Hidalla and her companions Irene, Vera, Blanka, Melusine, and Rain. Within the college's imposing walls, the girls are raised in an aura of isolation, oblivious to life beyond the towering stone boundaries. As they approach the cusp of womanhood at 16, a curious itch begins to fester, sparking questions about their origins, their unseen parents, and the true intent behind the stern rules laid down by the cryptic Headmistress. The idyllic fairy tale setting of their youth gradually morphs into a chilling landscape as two of their own inexplicably vanish. Amid the mounting unease, a city inspector ventures into their isolated world, hoping to unveil the college's hidden intentions. Meanwhile, Hidalla steels herself for a rebellion against the fate dictated by the austere Headmistress. The Fine Art of Love: Mine Ha-Ha thus weaves a tale of innocence confronted with unsettling realities, a world where the line between education and manipulation blurs, and a brave struggle against predetermined destiny.
