Plot

When a smooth-talking New York advertising executive, teetering on the cusp of a major career breakthrough, has his life upended by a web of lies about his educational background, he finds himself ousted from his job and hounded by relentless debtors. His salvation arrives in an unexpected package - a summons back to his quaint, southern hometown following the demise of his dear great aunt. In the wake of his aunt's passing, he is thrust into the role of choir director for her cherished church choir, a ragtag group that leaves much to be desired. With an enticing inheritance of $150,000 worth of stock dangling before him, he must mold this discordant bunch into a harmonious gospel choir capable of competing in the illustrious Gospel Explosion in Atlanta. His recruiting efforts take him down unconventional paths, roping in three unlikely choir members from the local prison and a sultry night club singer, shunned as a "sinner" by the town's rigid moral compass. Despite initial resistance and scorn, her mesmerizing voice becomes the golden thread weaving the choir into a cohesive unit, silencing all but the most stubborn church purists. The Fighting Temptations follows our protagonist's journey as he navigates the sharp turns that life throws at him, strives to restore harmony to a discordant choir, and learns invaluable lessons about truth, love, and acceptance along the way.
