In the bustling heart of Kolkata, Narsingh, a principled Sikh taxi driver, is plunged into the grim clutches of poverty when a crooked cop snatches away his license following an unlawful car race. Struggling on the city's outskirts, he grudgingly accepts employment from Sukhanram, a shrouded figure of questionable integrity deeply entrenched in the seedy world of dope smuggling.
Amidst the chaos of his new life, Narsingh finds solace in the unlikely companionship of Josef, a fellow villager, and his sister Neeli, a compassionate Christian schoolteacher. As he becomes enamored by Neeli's selfless spirit, he mistakes her kindness for love, oblivious to her secret affections for a disabled outcast.
Simultaneously, Sukhanram's schemes grow more sinister as he manipulates Narsingh into selling his cherished taxi for a stake in a risky venture. However, Gulabi, Sukhanram's world-weary prostitute, recognizes the deceit and, with the help of Rama, Narsingh's loyal taxi partner, manages to persuade Narsingh to back out of the perilous deal.
In retaliation, Sukhanram sets a trap, abducting Gulabi to force Narsingh's hand in a desperate game of survival and integrity. Thus, the stage is set for a thrilling battle between virtue and vice, love and deception, in the heart of a city that never sleeps.
