After an ill-fated return from spring break, five college students find themselves stranded following a car crash in a desolate stretch of New England countryside. Their quest for aid leads them to the forgotten remnants of Emeryville, a weather-beaten western village that time and maps have overlooked. The village’s cordial caretaker, his demeanor belying the town's eerie atmosphere, offers them shelter until help can arrive with dawn's light. As the night darkens, the students uncover Emeryville’s macabre history. Once the clandestine site of twisted clinical experiments, the town is now a haunt of the abnormal, its inhabitants living by a chilling credo: 'We keep the ones we need'. Fearful and trapped miles away from the nearest hint of civilization, the students hatch a plan to escape from this obscure enclave. But their desperate plot does not go unnoticed. The revelation that their departure could shatter Emeryville's existence sets off a dangerous chain of events.
