The Courier (2020)

2020's "The Courier" revolves around the seminal events surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis. In this fact-based tale, a globe-trotting British businessman, Greville Maynard Wynne, is recruited by MI6 and CIA operatives to act as an intermediary between the parties in an attempt to prevent nuclear war. With tensions between the Soviet Union's Nikita Khrushchev and U.S. President Kennedy at an all-time high, highly decorated Colonel Oleg Penkovsky reaches out to MI6 and the CIA to defuse the situation. Wynne is tasked with acting as the courier for Penkovsky's intel, which is aimed at preventing nuclear holocaust. In exchange for Wynn's spycraft, the U.S. government would help him and his family defect. However, two central questions remain--Does Wynne understand the true implications of his actions, and can the precarious Cuban Missile Crisis be averted?
