Plot

In the heart of Whitewood, Massachusetts, on the ominous day of 3rd March 1692, the fate of Elizabeth Selwyn, a convicted witch, is sealed as she is sentenced to be consumed by the flames. Her associate Jethrow Keane invokes the dark powers of Lucifer to spare her from her fiery end. Fast forward three centuries, the echoes of witchcraft still resonate in Whitewood, piquing the curiosity of college student Nan Barlow. Recommended by her enigmatic professor, Alan Driscoll, who hails from the very same village, Nan decides to delve into her witchcraft research during her winter break. She is directed to the eerily charming Ravens Inn, managed by a mysterious woman named Mrs. Newless. Despite the dire warnings of the local priest, Reverend Russell, to flee the village that has been under the devil's rule for three hundred years, the naive Nan chooses to stay. As Nan plunges deeper into the darkness of the town's history, she realizes that she is caught in a web woven by a coven of malevolent witches. Her sudden disappearance prompts Patricia Russell, the Reverend's granddaughter, to visit Nan's disbelieving brother, Richard Barlow, and her boyfriend Bill Maitland. Determined to trace her steps and unravel the truth, they journey to New England, only to unearth a chilling secret. They discover that a coterie of immortal witches has been performing an annual ritual of sacrificing two young women, one on Candlemas Eve and the other on the Witch’s Sabbath, to retain their eternal life. The chilling revelation that the innkeeper is none other than the undead spirit of Elizabeth Selwyn, and her guests are the resurrected witches ready to celebrate the impending sacrifice on Candlemas Eve, sends shivers down their spines. As the witches rejoice in Nan's marked destiny, it becomes clear that only the shadow of a cross has the power to obliterate them. The film is a gripping tale that explores the eerie depths of witchcraft and the struggle for survival in a town where evil has reigned supreme for centuries.
