The Blob (1958)

In the tranquil quiet of an ordinary night, teenagers Steve Andrews and his sweetheart, Jane Martin, witness a spectacle that is anything but ordinary - a meteorite crashes in their vicinity. Their curiosity piqued, they venture to the impact site, only to discover an old man ensnared by a mysterious gelatinous substance adhering to his hand. When they rush him to Dr. Hallen, the enigmatic matter baffles the doctor. However, when both the old man and the doctor inexplicably disappear, Steve becomes increasingly certain that they're dealing with a monstrous entity. Meanwhile, this insatiable creature, an alien life form resembling a colossal blob of jelly, continues its silent rampage. With each person it consumes, it grows exponentially, its destructive power amplifying. Steve's desperate warnings fall on deaf ears as the small town's residents, including skeptical policemen and irate parents, dismiss his claims as teenage fantasy. The town's complacency only fuels the blob's unrestrained expansion. As the blob swells to an unignorable size, reality dawns upon the once dismissive townfolk. A collective gasp of terror sweeps through the populace as they realize the sheer enormity of the threat they face. However, the pressing question remains - how can they possibly halt the incessant growth and terror of this otherworldly creature? Their once peaceful town is now caught in the grip of an unimaginable nightmare, and their survival hangs in the balance. Will they manage to overcome their disbelief in time to confront the monstrous menace that is the blob?
