In the throbbing heart of Off-Broadway, Paul and Eddie have just stepped into the limelight, immersing themselves in their roles for the provocative new musical "Adam and Steve Just the Way God Made 'Em." Their on-stage characters compellingly reflect their off-stage lives, creating a mirror world filled with shared dilemmas and dreams. Paul, perennially on the hunt for Mr. Right, finds himself disillusioned by the trials of dating, yearning instead to embrace the carefree hedonism of the alluring chorus boys that inhabit his dressing room. In contrast, Eddie grapples with the uneasy fusion of his faith and sexuality, wrestling with the daunting task of revealing his truth to his family, whilst starring in a show that labels the bible as the "Breeder's Informational Book of Living Examples." As Eddie bravely steps out of the closet, his parents reel from the revelation, their world shattered. Meanwhile, Paul, now on a quest for carnal encounters, finds that even a satisfactory one-night stand eludes him. But amidst the whirlwind of life, the stage becomes a sanctuary where tap-dancing angels scantily clad in sequins, an audacious interpretation of Genesis, overzealous tele-evangelists, a camp designed to 'cure' gay kids, and a medley of show tunes serve as the backdrop to their transformative journey. With every note and step, they inch closer to the realization that accepting their true selves leads to a liberating sense of peace. Embracing the fact that they are, indeed, just the way God made 'em, signals a new beginning for Paul and Eddie.
