In the opulent world of the terminally ill heiress, Valarie Bancroft, the shadow of death looms, with only a year to live as predicted by her loyal secretary, Marsha Jordan. Hoping for a change of pace, they venture to sun-kissed California, where Valarie falls under the watchful care of the charismatic Dr. Peter Kirk, who finds himself irresistibly drawn to the steadfast Marsha.
