Nestled just beyond Gilbert's city limits in the heart of Lanville County, Texas, the Chicken Ranch has held a legendary status since 1910. Known as the finest little bordello in the Lone Star State, the establishment is regarded for its entertaining charm, rigid moral standards, and impeccable cleanliness — a legacy meticulously crafted by its original matron, Miss Wulla Jean. Upon her death seven years prior, the Chicken Ranch was passed on to her beloved protege, Miss Mona Stangley, who is fiercely determined to uphold the unique traditions of the establishment. The Chicken Ranch has long been silently sanctioned by local law enforcement, viewed as an unconventional pillar of the community and, ironically, frequented by many of the same officials who turn a blind eye to its operations. In fact, Miss Mona and the hot-tempered, good ol' boy Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd have maintained a complex relationship over the years, with the Sheriff acting as both protector and frequent patron of the ranch. However, their harmonious existence is threatened by the intrusive investigative reporting of Melvin P. Thorpe, a powerful television personality and consumer advocate. His televised exposé of the Chicken Ranch's illegal activities, including the involvement of Sheriff Dodd, sends shockwaves through the community. The scandal threatens to disrupt the ranch's biggest event of the year, the post-Thanksgiving football game party, a longstanding tradition involving players from the University of Texas and Texas A&M. As the pressure mounts, the Chicken Ranch's future hangs in the balance, subject to the whims of a wavering Governor who is easily swayed by public opinion.
