Plot

In the wake of an unbearable loss, Bill Palet (Simmons), a grieving widower, and his 17-year-old son, Wes, exchange the familiarity of their small town for the sprawling metropolis, seeking a fresh canvas on which to paint their reconstructed lives. Bill, taking on a private school teaching role, and Wes, navigating the tumultuous tides of adolescence, grapple with their shared grief as they embark on this new chapter. As father and son navigate the labyrinth of their bereavement, they are each captivated by the allure of newfound love. Wes finds solace in the mysterious and fiercely independent Lacy, a girl whose introverted exterior conceals a fiery spirit that sparks his curiosity. Bill, on the other hand, is drawn to the elegant Carine, a kind-hearted teacher whose own tapestry of past heartaches echoes his own, offering a poignant connection. However, the journey to healing is not without its trials. As their blossoming relationships are put to the test, Bill and Wes oscillate between moments of estrangement and reconciliation, each instance revealing more about their true selves. This moving narrative of love, loss, and self-discovery is a testament to the transformative power of human connection. It's a profound exploration of how two unique women help a father and son rekindle their zest for life and open their hearts to the possibility of love once again.
