Plot

As Pecos Grant, a rough-hewn Texas rancher, rides into the dusty heart of Stampede, Arizona, he is mistaken for Jim Rawlins, a specter of the town's past presumed dead for half a decade. The town's menacing boss, Utah Becker, a longtime adversary of Rawlins, ignites a conflict. However, Pecos, with his Texas grit, extinguishes it as swiftly as it arose. On the counsel of the town's grizzled Sheriff, Lew Collins, Pecos decides to embrace the deception. Pecos soon uncovers a sinister plot: Helena, Rawlins' beleaguered wife, is losing her cattle to the treachery of her own cowhands. With quick and decisive action, he dismisses the traitorous hands and points an accusing finger at Becker, suspecting him to be the puppeteer orchestrating the conspiracy against Helena. Calling upon his loyal Texas riders, including the stalwart Steve Pickett, Pecos manages to drive Becker's menacing gang out of Stampede. The tension escalates into a fierce gunfight, a battle of wills between Becker and Pecos. Becker meets his end, and Pecos suffers a head wound that jolts his memory back into place. In a startling twist, he realizes he truly is the man he had been impersonating — the long-lost Jim Rawlins, whom Becker had tried to murder five years prior. As the dust settles, the truth about his identity and past unravels, setting the stage for a heart-stopping climax.
