In the heart of Montreal, Sophie Malaterre, an unemployed fashion designer, finds herself entwined in a web of misfortune. Brought to the city by Claire Maras with the promise of showcasing her work, she is left disappointed when Claire's boss unexpectedly extends his vacation. To make up for the letdown, Claire introduces Sophie to the novelty of switch.com, a unique platform that facilitates house swapping for vacations with strangers across the globe. Intrigued by the possibility of a fresh start, Sophie finds herself swapping her Toronto sea house for an enchanting apartment in Paris, nestled near the iconic Eiffel Tower, owned by a woman named Bénédicte Serteaux. Sophie's Parisian dream begins to unfold as she spends her first day soaking in the city’s magic, winding through the tourist-filled streets on a bicycle. However, the dream swiftly turns into a nightmare when, on the following morning, Sophie's tranquil Parisian haven is invaded by the police. As she is arrested mid-bath, her confusion escalates into horror when she learns about the gruesome discovery of a beheaded body in her room. To her disbelief, Detective Damien Forgeat accuses her of the crime, convinced she is Bénédicte. Sophie finds herself in a chilling predicament when she realizes that all evidence of her existence has been suspiciously erased, leaving her unable to prove she is, in fact, Sophie Malaterre. Now, she must navigate the twisted labyrinth of this terrifying mystery, fighting to reclaim her identity and innocence.
